Ready for the Palm roof

The basics of the main sanctuary are ready for the palm roof. The cross beams have all been varnished and sealed. Pastor Damian had hoped to pick up the cut and dried palm branches today but we are a little short of the necessary finances to pay for them.  We need a miracle today. Many have come to look at what they are doing and are very impressed with the quality of the workmanship. This is so important as the authorities in one town went to another church palapa and torn the whole thing down and hauled away all the chairs and equipment they had. Pastor Damian has been granted grace with the authorities here. Praise God.

Today the crew will be putting the cross beams that hold the palm leaves. True there is still lots to do but they can start having services here starting next week. PTL

The Children's Palapa

Well it looks like they are almost finished with the basic structure of the Children's activity center in San Agustin. They will put the metal crown over the point of the roof and trim the palm leaves so they are all even. Eventually they will pore a concrete floor and maybe add a 3ft high wall. We will dedicate it next week with a Children's program and Bible activities.

April 2009 Children's Fiesta

Pastor Damian has reported that since the Family Fiesta attendance has doubled at our San Agustin mission. There is standing room only in the palapa we are renting. Ryan Ghere, an architect from Laguna Beach, California recently came down and is working n a design for our new Palapa church on the same site as where the fiesta was held. He is working on a design that will function as a multipurpose area for the church and other activities and fits into the cultural surroundings of the area. We are very excited in what God's plans are for this new facility.

Here is a short video of the Fiesta. You can see the beach and waves in the background and the layout of the land.

San Agustín Childrens Fiesta

Yesterday was an event this beach community will talk about for months to come I'm sure. What a day. Pastor Damian and his mission churches had worked many weeks to make sure this Fiesta went smoothly and it did.

El Coyul Outreach Event

The results from this event is still coming in. This is a town of about 3,000 with three small evangelical churches. Pastor Damian encouraged these pastors and presented them to the town and the results have been fantastic. They had been invited to return and several other pueblos have asked them to their areas.

Shall we gather at the river?

We did just that for the second time in the last few months. This time, we had an old fashioned baptismal with a special speaker, Pastor Félex who does illustrated sermons and we had good food. They baptized 15 people from our missions. This was for our three missions on the coastal area of Huatulco. We already have 12 more wanting to be baptized.
